At the Start up India panel held in January 2016, a host of women entrepreneurs participated as key speakers to represent the stories of innovative women entrepreneurs.
Among them were Nidhi Agarwal, founder of Kaaryah, Anisha Singh, founder of My Dala, Pranshu Patni of Culture Alley, Sairee Chahal of SHEROES among several others.
Shaili Chopra, founder of Shethepeople.TV moderated the panel discussion. The participants discussed matters related to jobs for women, what women entrepreneurs needed in terms of support from the Government, funding, etc. Pranshu of Culture Alley felt it was important for a new entrepreneur’s product to speak for itself. She also added that women should be the first ones to stop undermining other women.
A lot was discussed on how women are changing the entire start-up ecosystem. In the last two years alone there has been a 50% jump in the start-up ecosystem said Shaili Chopra.
When talking about jobs and careers for women, Sairee of SHEROES added, “careers are not linear”. India produces the maximum number of women graduates in the world. The core point of SHEROES – any woman with a career question on her mind can come to us! She also spoke about the benefits of having a large entrepreneurial base and how financial support would make funding for new businesses easier. She spoke about how change in old policies are required with the evolving eco-system.
