New Day, New Year, But Old You!

First day of the new year- 2017- is here and there’s nothing magical about it. There. I said it! Tired of these social media updates looking forward to an “amazing year” ahead.

What is magical about the morning of 1st January 2017? Nada, nothing! It feels just like the previous morning. Sounds pessimistic right?

Not very uplifting, especially when you’re hoping to read a piece, which might pump you up for the day and the days to come.

Here’s the thing, nothing’s going to change overnight. Not when you wish you to read a ‘powerful/inspiring’ quote or story only to expect things to take a 360 degree turn, on its own.

You have to work towards it. Not a breaking news, absolutely with you on this. But, you can’t and you shouldn’t expect an overnight change, unless you make substantial changes in your life. Which in itself is a task. Definitely not an impossible one though.

New year is said to be all about renewed hope, zeal to start afresh. But it remains mere lip service, and there are various reasons for it. We get trapped in our chaotic lives and get distracted by whirlwind routine which makes it difficult to sit back and take stock of our lives.

Why not, instead of drowning in the congratulatory mode, just shut out the world and take a peek inside yourself. What is it you want and how are you planning to achieve it? Forget about planning. Get started with understanding your inner most thoughts.

Winters are its peak now, especially in the northern parts of the country. We are also gearing up for the spring. The auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, marks the shift of the sun into ever-lengthening days.

This shift signifies our constant transformation in life, and how essential it is to embrace change.

Let the words of spiritual leader Sadhguru be your lighting guide to embrace this change not just on superficial level. But on a much deeper and bigger magnitude.

Give yourself a new lease of life by shedding all that has held you back in these past years. Don’t refrain from committing yourself to something bigger than you and get on it with full force and determination.

P.S. - My personal favourite;

You cannot preserve this life – you can only expend it. Whether you just sit around or create something fantastic, whether you do something profound or something silly, you will anyway die. Either way, you have to spend your life – the only question is how.”

-Sadhguru

And yes, a very happy new year to you :)
